The Right Touch Is Essential For A VBAC

Touch is so fundamental to all human beings.

Your baby is touching the inside of the mother all the tie and the mother is touching the baby all the time.

Communication is a form of touch … both verbal and non-verbal.

Think about when someone used a tone of voice that was harsh. You are touched by that tone.

This is a Birthing Better skill that both mothers and fathers developed because touch happens between people.

Women were trying to explain to their partner how they needed to be touch in birth … and it often changed moment-to-moment.

Fathers were trying to keep up with all the changes. In this lesson, you’re going to learn a specific form of touch … a cue for the woman to soften inside her body under your hand.

There are several benefits:

  1. You don’t get tired helping her open up inside over many hours if necessary.
  2. She understands the non-verbal cue in the form of touch.
  3. You are helping her do something very subtle inside her body that can make the difference between effective and progressive labor (so essential for a successful VBAC) and a long 1st and 2nd stage.
