What’s the best birth position?

In labor, the best positions are ones where your contractions get longer, stronger and closer together at least every hour or two. How do you know? You’ll know. Every woman knows when her labor is ‘moving along’ and every woman knows whether ‘I’ve been doing this for hours with no change’.

Your baby is a big object and constantly adjusting to every position and posture you get into.

What are the good positions?

It sounds like the same heading!

Get into positions where each contraction is not ‘wasted’. You’ll know. Each contract will start, get more intense, have a peak, start to ease and then there’s a space in-between.

If a contraction starts, sort of get more intense and then seems to plateau off and then ease away, then you’re not in the right position for your baby.

Your baby always is giving you a message of how easy or hard it is for him/her to come down, through and out your body.
