That ONE word (Intervention) has brought havoc to the childbirth conversation. Where did it come from? What does it mean? How do you fit your coming birth into this one word?
This is a 5 Part Series within an ongoing Bigger Series about You and Childbirth.
Why is it so important to you to understand this one word? Without a clear understanding, you are more likely to view your coming birth with uncertainty and/or look back on your birth with unresolved feelings.
Here is what you absolutely need to know. The issue about ‘intervention’ that you are facing did not exist in the 1970s and for generations and generations before something changed in modern childbirth … a Trend!
Our past creates our present so you are faced with having to deal with “Interventions’ because of the message so many millions of women have been told since the 1980s.
The new Trend in Childbirth Conversation, exploded into global consciousness in the early 1980s via the Natural Birth Movement and famous authors. Curiously, the previous Childbirth Trend from the 1960s-mid1970s was not global but the initial concept that is the basis of Natural Birth Movement began back then. Why? Because modern medicine was beginning to embrace all births and not just those births at risk.
Risk is a scary word. If you or your baby may have a ‘risk, you don’t want that ‘risk’ to become a ‘problem’. You certainly, don’t want that ‘problem’ to become a ‘tragedy’.
We’re going to discuss the complex issue of ‘interventions’ in childbirthToday we’ll discuss these ‘interventions’
