Each birth is completely unique and can never be redone. We can talk about the experience in a short-form Birth Story. We can complain, rejoice and imagine doing it all over again, perhaps with a different outcome. However, the events that occurred will never change and can never be duplicated either.

Even though every birth is different, all Birth Stories have three things in common: The Three Birth Story Elements. The Birthing Better resources offer you the opportunity to hear the Birth Story of a woman and her partner from three different views. This gives you the chance to watch a birth unfold in three different ways, from the both the woman’s perspective and the man’s. These six different views on the same birth is one reason why Birthing Better with The Pink Kit Method® will give you an entirely unique approach to pregnancy and childbirth.

One of the greatest ways to learn is by listening to the experiences of others. It takes certain skill to actively listen to Birth Stories. When listening to a Birth Story you must consciously use Listening Skills and Thinking Skills. Learn to do so, and you will reach new, boundless limits.

Most Birth Stories contain three elements. These three elements weave together the tapestry of each Birth Story. It’s important to recognize all three layers (or elements) and mentally separate to learn all you can from the Birth Story you are listening to.

If you choose to work through The Pink Kit Package, you’re going to quickly realize that The Pink Kit offers a Fourth Element. This elusive Fourth Element is sorely missing from most Birth Stories. Make the Fourth Element part of your childbirth preparation and both the mother and father-to-be will have a more positive birth experience. The Pink Kit skills will give you the ability to birth better even if you don’t end up with the birth you hoped for or planned. The Three Elements of each Birth Story are:

  1. The Time Frame – Examples are, “My labor lasted nine hours” and “I pushed for three hours!”
  2. What “They” Did (or didn’t) Do To Me – An example would be, “I wanted a natural birth but my doctor pressured me into having a C-section.
  3. The Physical – This aspect of the story might sound like, “I had excruciating back labor” or “It didn’t hurt as bad as I thought it would.”

These are the Three Elements that come together to create a Birth Story.  The fourth dimension, “What I Did For Myself and How My Partner Helped Me” is usually absent in Birth Stories.

The three Birth Story examples include a Positive Birth, a Negative Birth and a Pink Kit Birth. A Pink Kit Birth focuses on what we do for ourselves, rather than what happens around us. You have very little ability to change the external factors of your birth (the first three elements) but you do have control over the Fourth Element, what you do for yourself.  When a mother and father-to-be utilize The Pink Kit skills, they develop a common language between them that becomes the foundation for their positive birthing-experience.

Men and women alike, you have the opportunity to work towards a Birthing Better Birth right now. Today! The external factors of the birth may be out of your control, but you will give birth. Take control of what you can. We hope you choose to work toward a Birthing Better birth experience.
