Here’s Birth Story #3 again to refresh your memory.

‘I loved using the pink kit, it really helped us (my husband and I) prepare for our birth. I didn’t find the time commitment to much at all, as once I had read through the information I was able to practice the skills like focused/directed relaxation and breathing anywhere and at any time during the day. The part that was the most successful for us was the communication skills my husband and I had established, we worked really well together. For me personally it was being able to consciously relax and open myself up for my baby to come down and out. I used my breathing constantly to keep me focused and in control and my husband would use touch to help me stay relaxed and open. My waters broke at 11pm and we started using the skills immediately and our daughter was born at 3:20am, just 4hrs 20mins later. It was a quick and stress-free birth in which i didn’t need any pain relief or interventions. I believe the pink kit skills helped us to deliver our baby in this manor as we had the skills to work with the birth rather than resisting and tensing throughout the contractions. I also believe that the internal work is a very valuable part of the skills and something I will promote to future birthing mums. I would definitely recommend the pink kit as it really helps you prepare for your birth and gives you a skill set that prevents you from feeling overwhelmed and assists in a really enjoyable birthing experience’.

We decoded Skills-based Birth Stories #1 and #2. What did we learn?

From #1:

  • That a few very specific birth skills were used.
  • While The Pink Kit could have offered her other birth and coaching skills to prevent or reduce her stalled labor, she either didn’t learn them or she forgot to use them and just relied on her birth professional. No shame, no blame.
  • Preparing her birth canal really made a huge difference in her birth resolution.
  • She didn’t talk about her partner’s role at all.

From #2:

  • This woman changed her approach to birth preparation after a traumatic first birth. Information wasn’t sufficient. She turned to birth skills.
  • This woman used several skills-based resources and found there to be a difference between them. This means people can use what suits them.
  • She didn’t talk about her partner either.

What can we learn from Birth Story #3?

  • First thing she mentions is her husband and how they prepared together for their birth.
  • They could each practice the skills while doing other things during the day. That’s neat really because The Pink Kit birth and coaching skills are really Life Skills.
  • She mentions what they specifically focused on … focused relaxation and breathing.
  • She also mentions a very specific Pink Kit skill … communication. One of the ebooks gives skills on verbal and non-verbal communication plus the self-talk women do during the birthing process.
  • She talks about working well with her husband during their baby’s birth.
  • Not once does she mention where or with whom they gave birth! That’s the primary switch that happens in a family’s mind once they become skilled. They focus almost entirely on what they ‘do’ rather than what ‘happens’ to or around them.
  • She mentions they started using their skills at the earliest part of labour … actually they were already using their skills as they practiced during the day. In other words using skills became second nature.
  • And she mentions again, the Internal Work. You do NOT want your labour to stall. Preparing the inside of your body to open, be soft and mobile really matters.

Birth and coaching skills are real, fun to learn BUT seriously essential. Do not go into your birth without them.

Here’s a link. This link will be put on all the posts. Kristen has 6 kids, the last 3 are PK babies. She KNOWS about birth and is one of our affiliates. That means if you purchase The Pink Kit through her she gets a commission. Her husband Scott’s first baby was her first Pink Kit experience. He’ll explain how The Pink Kit made certain he was able to become a skilled birth coach to a woman who had previously had three great births! You can find their interviews on our YouTube channel.

Kristen’s written a time-line calendar for use of The Pink Kit. You just need to sign up to her mail list (we don’t keep a mail list) and she’ll send you the Time Line. She’s worked through both Edition #2 and #3 of The PInk Kit so she knows all it’s imperfections and la-dee-dahs past them to the skills she wants to improve for each birth. Can women and men have better births each time? Sure can! The more skilled, the more we master the experience.
