Why would you even consider become a skilled birthing woman?

That’s not a question women asked themselves in the US in the 1960s/70s. There was a societal expectation that pregnant families learn birth and coaching skills. And there were no choices. Women couldn’t ‘choose’ a natural birth. Since the 1980s that’s all changed. Birth skills are dismissed. Fathers/others have been reduced to a ‘support’ role. Women are supposed to ‘choose’ what medical interventions they don’t want … all if they want a natural birth. And don’t even mention the possibility of anything going wrong or else you’ll be blamed for bringing it on.

When speaking to women who want a natural birth what exactly can we say to convince you that you’re more likely achieve your desired birth if 1) you prepare your pregnant body to open up so your inner soft tissue doesn’t hinder your baby’s movement down, through and out your body. 2) learn birth and yes, coaching skills so you can work through all 5 phases of every contraction. 3) if … yes if … you need more medical care you’ll have the skills to continue to work through your baby’s birth journey.

You’ll planning a natural birth either at home alone, with a midwife,  Birth Center or hospital. For natural birth purists no one birthing in hospital can have a natural birth but that’s nuts. Many women have wonderful, progressing births in hospital. The cherry on the top is when you work through your birth journey skillfully. For true natural birth purists, birthing home alone is the only way to go. That should motivate you more to do everything you can to prevent or reduce any possible problems. That shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone if you’re a responsible person. Birth is always safe until something happens. This means you either need the skills to reduce/prevent possible problems or have the skills to deal with them. If not, you will end up having more medical care which isn’t too bad. Any person seeks medical care when they feel it’s appropriate. Smart people learn skills so they use medical care when they don’t have the skills to deal with all the other ‘natural’ problems that occur in life: ear aches, vomiting, flu, chocking, measles, whopping cough, poison oak/ivy.

If you want a natural birth then be responsible and prepare your body during pregnancy and learn skills so you can have a progressing birth. It’s quite simple really. Responsibility is not wishful thinking or just believing nothing can happen. Those with strong faith-based beliefs know that personal responsibility is a key to a successful life.

Here’s a link. This link will be put on all the posts. Kristen has 6 kids, the last 3 are PK babies. She KNOWS about birth and is one of our affiliates. That means if you purchase The Pink Kit through her she gets a commission. Her husband Scott’s first baby was her first Pink Kit experience. He’ll explain how The Pink Kit made certain he was able to become a skilled birth coach to a woman who had previously had three great births! You can find their interviews on our YouTube channel.

Kristen’s written a time-line calendar for use of The Pink Kit. You just need to sign up to her mail list (we don’t keep a mail list) and she’ll send you the Time Line. She’s worked through both Edition #2 and #3 of The PInk Kit so she knows all it’s imperfections and la-dee-dahs past them to the skills she wants to improve for each birth. Can women and men have better births each time? Sure can! The more skilled, the more we master the experience.
