‘I WANT A VBAC!’

’I’M DESPERATE FOR A VBAC!’

The most important thing in the world to you in this pregnancy is to achieve a VBAC or not.

If you were absolutely certain that your previous Caesarean was totally necessary then you want to try to achieve a VBAC yet know the benefits of modern medical care. You’ll research, do due diligence and make the right decision when the time comes.

If you’re one of the millions of women who believe they had an unnecessary Caesearan then you are raging against the machine of modern medicine, feel totally ripped off, angry has hell, hell bent on achieving a normal birth and laser focused on making the right decisions to achieve what you feel as been taken from you … a natural birth.

We want to invite both of you into the circle of Birthing Better families. Finally there is a resource developed by families like yours for you.

There’s lots of information about VBAC, groups, social media, YouTube videos, books … but Birthing Better fills in a gap you may not even know was missing. You both need to have effective skills to:

  • prepare your pregnant body to become a safe and confident birthing body.
  • work through the natural occurring pain of labour and not find yourself with a delay in 1st or 2nd stage.

Did you know that almost all C-sections are done in labour and not during the vaginal part of birth? This means to get to a VBAC (vaginal birth) you have to get through the labour part. And that’s the hardest, most challenging and longest part of your birth.

There’s no societal message out there that you and your partner need skills. Birthing Better families developed the skills because they were pissed off for so many reasons and wanted something that didn’t exist. They wanted to KNOW HOW-TO GIVE BIRTH!

When you don’t know you even need to know and what you don’t know isn’t known then why should you know?

Birthing Better is what has been unknown and Birthing Better families want you to have the powerful skills to prepare your pregnant body to assist your baby’s efforts to open you, come down, through and out your birthing body. Starting anytime from 24 weeks onward thoroughly enjoy and delight in these VBAC and natural childbirth preparation skills.

  • The Hip Lift … create space for your baby inside your body
  • Sacrum manoeuvre … create space, reduce chance of back labour, help a posterior baby turn and deal with any back labor that happens
  • Pelvic Clock … soften inside your pelvis and help your cervix to open, reduce or prevent long 1st stage of labor.
  • Sit Bone Spread … reduce or prevent long pushing stage of birth.
  • More

Birthing Better families will tell you its ESSENTIAL that you exactly prepare your pregnant body to give birth and then learn to cope, manage, work through, deal with and use good birthing behaviours while you are experiencing the pain/rushes/waves of contractions.

Here are some of the exact birthing skills you and your partner will learn:

  • Directed Breathing … yes, you’ll breathe all the time. Now you can learn the best breathing methods for you. Breathing skills that adapt and adjust and help you work through your baby’s birth well.
  • Deep Touch Relaxation … it’s vitally important that you know exactly how-to relax during the birth whether you’re feeling pain, having medical interventions done to you or just feel anxious.
  • Working Together … yes, there are exact skills to work together with your partner and how to use both verbal and non-verbal communication well throughout your baby’s birth and afterwards.
  • Niggling Labors … one of those natural issues that can lead to more interventions.
  • Internal Work … you will naturally stretch in your vagina however, a delay in 2nd stage can also lead to interventions as well as cause damage to your body.

Birthing Better was developed equally by fathers and mothers for their two integrated roles. Birthing Better is based on our shared human body which means you will have a common body language of skills to do this very physical, body-centered activity of birthing your baby.

Your VBAC matters and your birth and coaching skills matter. You can imagine the perfect place to birth, the perfect birth professional, perfect support people. Then be realistic and imagine your own ability to birth your baby no matter where, with whom or what is happening to or around you.

The likelihood is that you did not have a full compliment of effective skills for your last birth. Don’t waste this birth. Having choices is great, being able to birth no matter what is more powerful.

You want to:

  1. have as safe a VBAC as possible
  2. feel confident facing the unknown of your coming VBAC
  3. stay in control and on top of what will happen to you during the birth to get through labor and have a vaginal birth.
  4. look back on your  birth with dignity and pride

Here are some honest things Birthing Better families want to tell you because over 90% achieved a vaginal birth but not always a natural one.  Many had medical assessments, monitoring and procedures throughout and some had a subsequent cesarean delivery.

  • We get pregnant to have a baby not a ‘type’ of birth
  • While each of us wants the birth of our choice, the vast majority of us get the birth we ‘have’.
  • When our birth is unfolding, it is our responsibility to stay on top of and in control over our responses to what we are internally feeling and what others are doing around us.
  • Each of us has worked with total commitment to stay engaged and involved in the birth of our baby no matter the circumstances because that is our role as a parent.

In other words, like Birthing Better families, use your skills to birth your baby.

Go for your VBAC. Work toward your VBAC. Prepare for your VBAC, Become a skilled birthing woman and birth coaching father/other. Be a skilled birthing woman and be a skilled birth coach. Birth your baby with skills. Being skilled is where your power lies!
